Want!
I know I could make one of these myself (the creator did, after all) but I’m not the most handy persno in the world. So I’m just going to have to wait until this is available for general consumption. I’ve definitely noticed a difference in driver attitudes depending on my level of visibility. The bright green shell I wear now helps a lot.

You *are* traffic
So along with my getting rid of my connections to google and yahoo, I have left del.icio.us as well. So now instead of daily blogs of links, I’ve just added the Scribefire firefox plugin and can, with the push of a button, open a window to publish an entry about what I’m seeing.
Anyway – I just came across this cartoon.
The (informal?) motto of critical mass is “We’re not blocking traffic, we are traffic.” As someone who occasionally drives a car for work reasons, I have to say that at least for me, I sometimes forget that distinction even about cars. How many times have you cursed a traffic jam for holding you up without even thinking for a minute that not only are you held up by the traffic jam – you are the traffic jam.

The frustrating thing, I think, is like John Lennon’s “War is Over (If You Want It) – Toronto could be a cycling city like this if we wanted it. Sadly we only get this kind of turnout at Critical Mass.
Sage posted this today and it is absolutely hilarious (and quite catchy as well!). Like Sage said – there’s a reason we don’t live in suburbia.

A fantastic book on subject of unschooling/deschooling. I’d recomment the book rather than the text version myself but if you can stand reading on-screen, more power to you!

Probably the most disgusting display of materialism I’ve seen this week. I’m revolted!

Sure, it’s revolting and something of an outrage. At the same time, it isn’t the only thing that upsets people about school. If you don’t like it, work for change or leave the system. There’s a reason why we homeschool, folks.

Atheist charities is a bad description – areligious may be more accurate. These charities aren’t associated with any church and are good causes.

It kind of pisses me off that someone comes up with the money for skating rinks to open but libraries are having reduced hours and no Sunday service due to budget cuts. Anyone willing to pay to keep the libraries open for us?

This book looks to be a fascinating read when it comes out. i recommend the film (in this post) as well though there is some disturbing imagery.
