In the latest installment of Blue Peach, Episode 8, Sage included her own fictional Critical Mass ride, complete with a trumpet-playing Michael Louis Johnson as is usual for the rides. People who know my voice will also hear a couple of cameos.
Listening made me really miss Toronto and the cycling culture there - enough that I am seriously considering changing my flight home on the 25th so that it is early enough to get home and grab my bike and head back out for April Critical Mass. Meanwhile, I’ll have to be content with the memories of one of my favourite Critical Masses ever - my first in June 2007. No critical mass in Quebec City as the traffic code specifically states that bicycles have to ride in single file and in groups of no more than fifteen.
I was on that ride! I’m only able to get down for a CM ride perhaps twice a year, I’m caught on tape! Second video with the tall bike. I’m the dude with the red tee shirt, black helmet and pony tail that comes into the frame at about 9 seconds. I even look pretty much right at the camera.
That was a fun ride.
I’ve only been to three - that one, the one the following month, and September of that year. That one was the best time and not just because it was my first one.
I have been captured by a few photos in various flickr sets but none very easy to see.
